Petissimo is an annual concert event presenting a diverse set of musical genres, in support of a pet-related cause.  It is Petissimo’s goal to invest in the Durham Region annually by providing an event that supports animal’s needs and promotes Canadian musicians.  It is the vision of Petissimo that by working with and supporting animal organizations and performing artists, all of our families will benefit by being part of a rich, cultural community.Sponsored by Whitby Toyota Scion (Petissimo’s 2015 Leader of the Pack Spoonsor), the second annual Petissimo concert is once again in support of the New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge/Scugog.  “It is our ongoing commitment to support our community by contributing to important and worthy causes. Petissimo shares these same important community values as we do – such as supporting the New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge/Scugog. Whitby Toyota Scion has been supporting community causes for over 20 years and is excited to be part of this new endeavor with Petissimo.” ~ Whitby Toyota Scion

glen-kowarsky_300x300-300x250Petissimo is the brainchild of Glen Kowarsky, who is the founder of Dogs at Camp, which was the first and original open concept overnight and day camp for dogs in Ontario. The business has developed a reputation as among the most trusted and respected dog care facilities in Canada. Prior to opening the camp, Glen rescued a dog named Abby, who became his inspiration for the idea of a ‘dog camp’, and he opened the business in order to provide Abby (and himself) a positive and healthy country home and lifestyle. Abby lived the second part of her life on ‘her’ farm in Uxbridge, and her legacy has lived on. The loss of Abby sparked Glen’s next idea, which was the Dogs at Camp Foster Camper Program. Through this wonderful endeavour, dogs are brought in to camp from shelters and rescue organizations, where they stay as ‘campers’ (all costs are covered by Dogs at Camp) while a permanent home is sought. To date, well over 150 dogs have been placed in new and loving homes through this program. Kowarsky, along with all of the owners, management, and staff at both locations of Dogs at Camp, are strong supporters of animal rescue. When Glen heard about the project underway to build a New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge-Scugog – he saw the opportunity to combine his love of and talent for musical performance, with his dedication to animal rescue.

To that end, Glen approached his close friend and fellow animal advocate, Joanne O’Neil.  Joanne is a Senior Project Manager with a major Canadian bank, and has managed projects and teams for varying industries.  Joanne has a talent and knack for ‘making things happen’, and agreed to act as Event Manager for Petissimo.  Together, Joanne and Glen formed a Petissimo concert committee, without whom a concert event of this scale could not happen.

Joanne and the committee work throughout the year to plan every detail of the Petissimo concerts, and on concert night – it shows! For tickets or more information visit www.petissimo.org
